ABOUT TOZERO

At tozero, we’re pioneering sustainable lithium-ion battery recycling to recover essential materials like lithium, nickel, cobalt, and graphite. Our goal is to create a scalable recycling solution that powers a circular battery economy, reducing resource waste and environmental impact.

Since our launch in 2022, we’ve made rapid progress. After securing €3.5 million in pre-seed funding, we built our prototype plant in Munich. Now, with an additional €11 million seed round, we’re on the path to full-scale production. Our diverse team, representing over 10 nationalities, is united by a shared mission to make a tangible impact on the planet


ABOUT THE ROLE

As our Industrialization & Production Scale‑Up Lead, you’ll play a central role in transforming our prototype into an industrial-scale process. You’ll lead the charge in industrializing our technology, guiding it from pilot through to commercial production, and ensuring it meets the efficiency and quality required to fulfill market demand.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading Scale-Up Efforts: Oversee the seamless transition of our recycling technology from prototype to commercial-scale, enhancing operational efficiency in chemical processes.

  • Building and Leading Teams: Manage and inspire a multidisciplinary team across automation, process engineering, and prototyping to achieve ambitious growth targets.

  • Developing Scalable Processes: Implement scalable solutions for high-quality, efficient production in our commercial plants.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with R&D, production, and supply chain to integrate innovations seamlessly into workflows aligned with strategic objectives.

  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain rigorous safety and regulatory standards, fostering a culture of excellence

  • Drive the vision and efforts directly and closely with our CTO Ksenija to whom you will be reporting to


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Background in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical or Automation Engineering with several years of experience (min. 3 years)

  • Experience in industrialization or operational scaling within relevant sector such as oil and gas, or chemical industries, ideally in (hydro)metallurgy.

  • Proven success scaling industrial processes from prototype to full-scale commercial production, preferably chemical processes

  • Understanding of detailed engineering design and documentation (e.g. P&ID)

  • Experience with industrial equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, valves etc.)

  • Basic knowledge and undersdtanding of any CAD software CFD and/or FEA

  • Basic understanding of PLC/SCADA and automation components (PID controls, sensors, actuators etc.)

  • Experience in coordinating teams of engineers coming from different areas (mechanical, electrical, automation) is desired
