Job description
About the Venture
At PAVE Space, we’re building the future of industry in orbit.
Our mission: enable true in-space mobility — access to any orbit within 24 hours.
To get there, we’re designing, building, and testing a new kind of space vehicle from the ground up — one that redefines what’s possible in space logistics and orbital access.
We move fast. We think across disciplines. We act with precision.
We’re not here to sugarcoat it: joining PAVE means stepping into a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where every contribution truly matters. We’re a small team tackling big challenges, driven by sharp minds, strong work ethic, and the will to make things happen.
If you’re looking for comfort, this isn’t it. But if you want to help build a major space project from the ground up, it might be the ride of your life.
About the Role
Testing is where theory meets truth — and we’re looking for someone to lead that frontier.
As Head of Testing, you’ll own one of the most critical functions in our mission: proving that what we build works — flawlessly. From ground systems to propulsion to full-scale flight tests, you’ll design and run campaigns that push hardware, teams, and expectations to their limits.
You’ll build and lead a testing organization that combines engineering rigor with operational excellence — creating a culture where precision, safety, and speed coexist. This isn’t just about running tests. It’s about shaping how we learn, iterate, and achieve orbit-readiness faster than anyone else.
This role is for someone who thrives on complexity and clarity in equal measure. You’re calm under pressure, decisive in chaos, and allergic to “good enough.” You bring a deep understanding of testing environments — from propulsion systems to integrated hardware — and a mindset tuned for startup velocity.
What You’ll Do
Design and lead PAVE’s full testing strategy — from component validation to full system qualification.
Build and scale the testing team and infrastructure, ensuring we can test, iterate, and certify hardware on rapid cycles.
Drive reliability and safety across all testing programs, from lab benches to live firings and flight tests.
Collaborate across disciplines — propulsion, avionics, GNC, systems — to translate engineering intent into actionable test plans.
Own the data — design test instrumentation, drive analysis, and turn results into clear technical insight and actionable feedback loops.
Develop and maintain relationships with external testing facilities, regulatory bodies, and partners as needed.
Who You’ll Work With
You’ll collaborate closely with:
Julie Böhning — Co-Founder & CEO
Jérémy Marciacq — Co-Founder & CTO
Karina Sapelnikova — Head of Propulsion
Tomasz Witkowski — Turbopomp Lead
William Cottier — System Engineer Lead
What We’re Looking For
Deep experience in aerospace testing in an industrial context — propulsion, mechanical, or integrated systems.
Proven ability to build and lead technical teams in high-performance environments.
A structured yet pragmatic approach — you can plan meticulously and adapt instantly.
Comfort with the pace and ambiguity of a hardware startup — this isn’t corporate space.
Strong communication skills — you turn data into stories and tests into strategy.
What You’ll Get
A front-row role in building one of Europe’s most ambitious space ventures.
The opportunity to shape the core testing philosophy and infrastructure from day one.
Direct impact on every vehicle we build and every mission we fly.
A team that values high standards, ownership, and relentless curiosity.
The velocity, autonomy, and purpose that come with building something that’s never been done before.
Our Values
– Keep it simple
– Be brave, say what’s wrong
– Set the bar high for yourself
